FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
things you need to know to keep you in the know!
WHERE ARE WE BEING PICKED UP FROM?
We pickup our guests from all corners of the island. Whether you're at a resort, a hotel, a bed & breakfast, a vacation rental, or the airport; we'll be there to pick you up. Just make sure when booking, you choose the area closest to where you are staying.
WHAT SHOULD WE BRING?
We provide a picnic lunch and snacks for all of our guests on our tours. Lunch includes fresh sandwiches fruit, and drinks. Other then that, you are responsible for bringing any additional items. Please also bring a camera for the endless photo opportunities.
WHAT SHOULD WE WEAR?
Being that we will be venturing into many climates, it would be a good idea to wear pants, a light jacket, and a hat. We also recommend wearing hiking boots. The lava fields can be difficult to walk on, and hiking boots provided sufficient footing. Also, wearing pants will protect your legs should you fall.
WILL WE GET TO SEE MOLTEN LAVA?
This is a question we get asked frequently and for some, a big reason to go on a volcano tour. Unfortunately this is a very difficult question to answer. Do to the unpredictable nature of volcanoes, we cannot make any guarantees. Most of the time though WE DO NOT EXPECT OUR GUESTS TO VIEW MOLTEN LAVA. When lava does erupt to the surface, it is generally out of the general public's access. Occasionally, lava does present itself in publicly accessible areas. When this does occur, we will make viewing lava our utmost priority. To get a feel for current conditions on Kilauea, please click here.
WHAT ABOUT DAYS DURING BAD WEATHER?
Nothing is worse then trying to take a tour during bad weather. Many people have different ideas on what bad weather is. Most of the areas of the island where will be traversing are in rainforest areas. In these areas, including many locations on Kilauea volcano, are surrounded by rain forests where there is a good chance that rain will be joining us on our tour. For these instances, we will be providing ponchos. However, if there is weather that is outside what is normally expected, there is a chance we will cancel the tour. Trust us, we don't like standing in the rain giving tours either. If we anticipate bad weather, or you feel the weather will be unsatisfactory, please call us so that we can discuss options.
WHAT IF WE NEED TO CANCEL?
If for whatever reason you need to cancel, there is no charge up 48 hours before your tour begins. If the cancelation falls within 48 hour period, there will refund will be given, although we can comp you on your next trip our. Please let us know immediately when you need to cancel. You can always rebook at a later date.
