Punaluu Black Sand Beach

KONA COFFEE COUNTRY

We’ll first pass through famous Kona Coffee country where some of the finest coffee in the world is grown on the western slopes of Mauna Loa volcano. 

PUNALUU SWEET BREAD BAKERY

As we approach the southern area of the island, we’ll see vast lava fields as we make our way through one of the most active parts of Mauna Loa volcano. Next, we’ll pickup lunch at the famous Punalu’u Sweet Bread Bakery as well as some delicious malasadas (Portuguese doughnuts).

Get a glimpse of Hawaiian sea turtles basking in the warm Hawaiian sun on one of Hawaii’s famous black sand beaches.

Home of Kilauea Volcano. Here we’ll take in the magnificent views of the Kilauea’s awesome caldera and various volcanic sites within.

NAHUKU LAVA TUBE

Get a glance inside a once scorching conduit of molten rock from Kilauea volcano known as Nahuku Lava Tube. Here we will discuss the importance of lava tubes in the creation of our beautiful island paradise.

SADDLE ROAD

Heading back to the island’s west side.Reaching an elevation of almost 6,800 feet, we'll climb into the clouds through lush rainforests, cloud forests, high desert, and vast prairies passing through many of the Big Island’s microclimates.
